Book Review: Nimravid: Book One of The MacFade Chronicles by D.L. Greeley

If you love long epic fantasies as much as I do, you don't want to miss this one. Magic, demons, vampires, this story has everything in it that makes a fantasy novel great. I found myself so drawn into this riveting story filled with magical powers, weapons, battles and an unlikely hero that I couldn't put the book down. Given the length of this action thriller, it’s amazing how well the plot was developed and wonderfully paced. The author did a fantastic job of writing descriptive passages and dialogue between the characters to give the reader a full scope of the story and developed characters who were distinctive and intricately connected. The main character, Mack, is an intriguing yet complex unusual hero. Actually, I found myself questioning my feelings about whether he could even be considered a hero at times throughout the story, because he doesn’t always come across as one of the “good” guys. About the Book: A coming-of-age story of Erin and Erika, Texas twins in an abusive home in a town segregated by white and black color lines, who are wounded by the revealing of a shocking family secret and long to escape their circumstances and erase what they have been labeled. Follow their journey in this compelling novel filled with inspiration and triumph. My Review: Burnt Orange is a truly incredible read. The author shares this deeply emotional story in a well-written, detailed, and engaging text that ropes the reader in from page 1. Meiah Shaun brings authenticity and vulnerability to each page of this novel as the story of Erika and Erin unfolds. The girls, who are 11- year-old twins when the story begins, are victims of abuse and segregation. Meiah Shaun paints a descriptive picture of what life was like in Texas at this time, as well as what it was like to be a middle schooler, teenager, and young woman in these circumstances.
